A tid bit of what we'll be doing in Cameroon..

(The following is part of an email received from Missionaries Rusty and Adriane Riddick).

Greetings from Cameroon! Hope you are both doing well. We are doing great just ready for the rainy season to end, days of endless rain. We just wanted to write and let you know a little information so you will know what to expect and how to prepare for your trip.

The planning committee has not made a schedule for National Convention yet. Both of you probably need to be prepared to preach OR teach, either one. As soon as we know a definite schedule on that I will let you know.

Then we will be going to some churches as well while you are here, You all can have something prepared - teaching a lesson OR preaching, whatever you feel comfortable with. Anything you would feel to share is fine, no specific topics or theme. Just share whatever God lays on your heart. The same message/ OR lesson can be shared at each church, as they will be different pastor's and congregations. Rusty will be your interpreter.

We will be going to the orphanage for a service with the kids. This is a small lesson or devotion, a game or activity and  then we will have a refreshment for them. You can be ready with a short lesson (we do not usually go over 15 -20 min on the lesson) and if you have any game or activity you want to do with them.  If either of you sing and want to teach them a song that is fine too. Most of the kids are younger. The children will love anything you do!

We are planning on making two trips while you are here, the rest of the time you will be staying with us. The total expenses for these trips and eating out while here will be right at $1,000. This will include the hotel room the night you fly in and also the hotel room when you fly back out. Then besides that, you will want to bring money for any shopping and souvenirs. Wwill take you to a huge carving stand before you leave out that has everything you can think of. Be sure and leave enough room in your luggage to bring back some stuff with you!

If you have a credit card, you will want to travel with it in case of emergency or missed/ cancelled flight resulting in needing a hotel during your lay over. Make sure that you notify your credit card that you will be traveling internationally through Turkey and to Cameroon, Africa. You need to give them the dates that you will be in these countries and when you will return back to the US.  This way they do not block you from using it internationally if needed. Otherwise, if you have an emergency or get in a bind and need to use it, they will block it for fraud protection.

Be sure and make copies of your passports and visa's and keep them in a separate place or bag incase they are lost.  Also, make sure that you put your yellow fever vaccination card in your passport upon arrival here, they will check it at the airport.

We are going to be working on your letter of invitation. It has to be stamped by the commissioner here so we will get that all done and get it sent to you to send in with your visa application.

If you have allergies, you will want to bring allergy medicine, just in case. Bring clothes that are cool and not hot, it will be dry season while ya'll are here. Dress coats are hot, so a shirt and tie are fine for church. Check with the airlines to see what the weight limit is on your baggage. It is usually limited to two bags per person not to exceed 50 lbs each bag, plus your carry- on's. Make sure that you are not over weight, otherwise they will ask you to pay excess baggage...

Hope you will enjoy your time here, we want you both to feel at home!

 God Bless,Rusty & Adriane Riddick
